After watching the Great north run I’ve decided I’m defiantly doing it next year.
I’ve requested a notification e-mail to be sent to me when entries open but I’m starting training straight away. No more excuses, I’m the only one that can make this happen and I’m determined to do it!
I’ve been running 5k for a few months now and I’ve done 10k a couple of times but I’ve not really been pushing myself to go further or improve my 10k time.
Like my weight loss my running has hit a plateau
I’m going to look at what I’m doing now, what I want to achieve in both the year and some smaller mini goals and what I have to do to get there.
Goal 1
To be able to run 10k without stopping by Christmas and 15k with walk breaks.
I would like my 10k time to be about 1hour 10minutes
The 15k with walk brakes are to build up my distance
Goal 2
Lose 14lbs by Christmas.
I want to be able to enjoy Christmas and not worry about putting on a few pounds. The stone will drop me down a dress size and give me that leeway for a good, guilt free Christmas.
Goal 3
Run a 10k race in January
I need to find one first.
This is a big one for me as the RFL is like a fun run. Lots of people walk and although I push myself most people do it for fun. A 10k race is a race. I know not everyone runs it competitively but you don’t sign up for a 10k unless you are a runner. Or that’s the way I see it.
In January I will re-evaluate my position and set new goal for April. Hopefully I will have achieved all the goals I’ve set myself and I’ll be ready to move onto the next stage.
